Medical mission provides local support and training

Dr. Carol McCammon, an emergency medicine physician, and Dr. Georges Bwelle, general surgeon and founder of Ascovime, recently spearheaded a medical mission project in Cameroon to provide point of care ultrasound for obstetric patients. They partnered with Butterfly and Ohana One to obtain the technology, but a key part of this project required training the local staff on how to use the provided handheld ultrasound devices.

Training requires healthcare specific translation

In preparation for the project, Dr. McCammon’s team created a custom training manual specific to this project to accompany the in-person instruction. However, they were faced with a challenge because the primary language spoken in Cameroon is French and the training manual was written in English. While they had access to live interpreters for the in-person training sessions, they did not have any resources to generate a written translation of the extensive training manual.

Jaide AI translation solution

Looking for a high-quality translation with a fast turnaround, the team reached out to Jaide Health. We were excited to have the opportunity to contribute to this project and help expand access to high-quality healthcare internationally. Using our AI translation solution, we were able to generate an accurate translation of the training manual instantly.

“We are thrilled with the support provided by Jaide Health. Our human reviewer who evaluated the generated translation was very impressed with the quality of the translation.” said Dr. Carol McCammon. “With this translation in hand, we were able to train the local staff and they have since begun providing obstetric ultrasounds at many sites.”
